WILD Cities Principle Two: Measure, value and restore healthy and abundant ecosystem benefits to humans and nature alike.

Strategies and tactics that support this principle document and value the benefits to the city derived from protected and restored wild nature. A WILD City will thus:

a. Map remaining wild nature in the city and the greater ecoregion of which the city is a part
b. Measure and promote community assets gained from fresh air, clean water, open spaces, biodiversity, carbon absorption and flooding/drought mitigation
c. Specify human health (physical, emotional) and quality of life benefits from access to and protection of wild nature
d. Demonstrate long-term savings through preventive actions that protect nature instead of destroying it then attempting to recreate its services (e.g. filtering of water)
